About
It started with forgetting what to plant
GrowCal is an Australian tool for people who garden with good intentions and a busy calendar.
GrowCal started with a very normal gardening problem. My wife, Brit, would buy seeds or seedlings with good intentions, then forget what was meant to go in when — or when it was time to feed, prune or check something. The information existed, but it was scattered across charts, websites and the back of seed packets.
The idea behind GrowCal was simple: work out what matters for where you live, then put the reminders into the calendar you already use. No new app to remember, no notifications competing for attention — just garden jobs sitting alongside everything else in your week.
Australian first
Most planting charts you find online are written for the northern hemisphere. GrowCal is built for Australian conditions, from Hobart to Darwin, using curated regional growing profiles rather than a one-size-fits-all chart.
Simple over complicated
You shouldn't need to understand climate jargon to plant a tomato. You tell us your suburb or postcode; we handle the matching to a regional growing profile. Broad climate labels are there to explain, not to make you choose.
Useful reminders, not expert advice
GrowCal is here to nudge you at roughly the right time. It isn't professional horticultural advice, and our plant schedules are still a preview dataset in validation — we say so plainly on the methodology page. Your soil, aspect, frost pockets and plant variety will always have the final say.
Who's behind it
GrowCal is part of Tilbury Trading. If you spot something wrong, or want a plant added, email hello@growcal.com.au. Real corrections from real gardens are how this gets better.
